Fate in Junior Best of Show class at the Dakota County Fair on 8/7/2017
Fate got her name because her breeding and the fact that she is alive is fate. Fate is out of Ivy, one of my favorites and best does, who has failed to produce anything that fills her hoof prints. I had a breeding date a few weeks later for Ivy but brought her in (to the barn) as company for Laura. As I watched Laura and Ivy on the camera, it wasn't Laura who laid down to kid, but Ivy. Oh how bad that could have been if I hadn't picked Ivy to keep Laura company... late February / early March in not conducive to outdoor kidding. So next began the process of determining the sire. My gut told me it was Token, who is NOT the buck I would have bred my beautiful Ivy to. DNA confirmed my gut, 'Token, you ARE the father!'
Fate is a lovely little doe. I'm not sure where I would fault her at this point. I am looking forward to showing her some more this year.
